From Wednesday, the entertainment offering will shrink significantly for all unvaccinated people over the age of 18. In recent weeks, many organizers have allowed people without proof of vaccination to return tickets that were purchased before the government's announcement.
”"We will not be as generous in the future," comments Christian Clemens, CEO of Stockholm International Fairs.
From December 1, proof of vaccination will be required to be admitted to indoor events with over 100 participants. Filmstaden, Dramaten, Malmö Opera and Gothenburg's municipal event company Got Event are some of the organizers that require fully vaccinated visitors.
The alternative, to follow the Public Health Agency's regulations on infection-proof arrangements, seems to have caught on with very few.
Niclas Lindeberg, CEO of the ticketing system Tickster, is pleased that the Public Health Agency and the government have listened to the industry's views.
”"We who work to create physical meetings see the vaccine passes as an opportunity. But on the buyback issue, we had hoped to receive guidance, now it is up to each organizer to decide."”
Can unvaccinated people get their tickets refunded?
”"Many organizers choose the goodwill route and buy back tickets. There is a clear minority who are not vaccinated and as an organizer it is possible to sell the tickets to someone else," says Niclas Lindeberg.
Trade fairs are exempt from the requirements for vaccination passes, but for other events the rules for public events apply, notes Stockholmsmässan CEO Christian Clemens, referring to this weekend's big fitness event.
”"We get quite a lot of questions about whether a negative test is enough, and it's not. This time you get your money back, because you didn't have a reasonable chance to get vaccinated after the decision was made. We won't be as generous in the future," he tells Di.
Another influential industry voice that welcomes the requirement for proof of vaccination is the entertainment group Moment Group, which owns classic entertainment venues such as Wallmans and Hamburger Börs.
What will happen to this year's Christmas table reservations?
”"If any employees at a workplace who have booked a Christmas dinner are not vaccinated, we solve it by rebooking or by letting others go in their place," says Ia Lindahl Idborg, communications manager at Moment Group, adding:
”"As we understand it, many people see vaccine requirements as something positive. It feels safe to know that those who are in the same place are also vaccinated."”
The industry does not expect the measure to be lifted in the first place.
”"The time when people were naive and believed that the pandemic would quickly pass is long gone. Everyone is committed to continuing to manage the spread of the infection for a long time to come," says Niclas Lindeberg.
