A total of 2.3 million passengers traveled with SAS in August, an increase of 22 percent compared to the same month last year.

SAS has now had just over 2 million passengers for four consecutive months. The August figure of 2.3 million is slightly lower than the 2.4 million who traveled with SAS in June and July.

SAS capacity (ASK) increased by 16 percent in August to a total of 4,262 million seat kilometers. The number of passenger kilometers (RPK) increased by 17 percent, to 3,360 million kilometers.

The cabin load factor, which is a measure of how well-filled the aircraft are, amounted to 78.8 percent in August, an increase of 0.1 percentage points compared to August last year.

When the summer months of June, July and August are summed up, 7.1 million passengers traveled with SAS during the period.

”"We worked hard to increase our capacity for the summer season and we are pleased to see the high volumes and strong demand. Demand continues to look stable and we will increase our capacity during the winter season as well," says Anko van der Werff, CEO of SAS, in a comment.

Last week, SAS reported its first quarterly profit since 2019, which CEO Anko van der Werff described as an important milestone in the company's ongoing restructuring.

The airline is currently working, among other things, to seek new capital from investors as part of the ongoing reconstruction process in the United States.

SAS's forecast is to reach revenues of over SEK 40 billion during the 2022/2023 financial year and a negative result after tax of SEK 4-5 billion.
