Some things never change, as Euromonitor International proved with this year's list of the world's top 100 city destinations. For the fifth year in a row, Paris takes home the win, making this a natural state of affairs rather than a novelty.
In 2025, Paris attracted over 18 million international visitors. But what makes Paris win is not just romance, but safe logistics, functioning public transport and a tourism policy that is considered to work. Europe generally dominates the list overall, with Madrid in second place and Rome and Milan close behind. According to Euromonitor International, these are cities that have understood that tourism is about professionalism and stability rather than just being trendy for the moment. London was at the top for a long time, but recently things have been worse for the British. Although people still make the pilgrimage there (the third most visited city in the world), the British capital has slipped down to 18th place. The reason for the drop is that it is simply too expensive and too complicated to visit the city these days. In terms of pure volume, however, Bangkok reigns supreme as it is the city in the world that receives the most people, with over 30 million international trips going there last year.
