The crew of Tallink's ferry Isabelle was alerted that a person had fallen overboard shortly after it left the Latvian capital Riga on its way to Stockholm, reports SVT News.
The ferry circled for an hour without finding anything. The Latvian Coast Guard also participated in the search, which was called off shortly after 11 p.m.
– They have searched without finding anything and have now continued to Stockholm, says Hans Friberg at Tallink Silja AB to SVT.
Tallink has no information about what may have happened.
– It could be anything from someone seeing someone fall overboard, to someone believing they saw something. We always take everything seriously, says Hans Friberg
A helicopter from the Latvian Coast Guard searched the area for almost two hours on Saturday evening, according to SVT.
