Clean petrol and diesel cars are being ported from parts of Stockholm's inner city.

The aim is to improve air quality.

– Today, the air in Stockholm causes babies to have worse lungs and the elderly to die prematurely. It is a completely unacceptable situation. We need to limit the harmful exhaust gases from petrol and diesel cars. That is why we are introducing environmental zone class 3 in an area in the City, says Lars Strömgren (MP), Stockholm City Councillor for Traffic in a press release.

The area is framed by Kungsgatan, Birger Jarlsgatan, Hamngatan and Sveavägen.

The change will take place gradually, starting from December 31, 2024.
