Philippine Airlines (PAL) and Singapore Airlines (SIA) have signed a new codeshare agreement that will allow the two airlines to enhance travel offerings between the Philippines and Singapore as well as to other domestic and international destinations – including Copenhagen and Milan.
Initially, the codeshare agreement will cover SIA and PAL’s flights between Singapore and Manila starting from the fourth quarter of 2023, subject to regulatory approval. In addition, SIA will use PAL’s flights from Manila to 27 destinations in the Philippines, while PAL will use six of SIA’s European routes – Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Milan, Paris, Rome and Zurich.
The codeshare routes to Copenhagen and Milan are a historic milestone as it is the first time a Philippine airline has connected to the Danish capital and the Italian fashion mecca. At the same time, PAL returns to Frankfurt, Paris, Rome and Zurich, which the Philippine airline already served in the 1980s and 1990s.
”SIA’s upcoming codeshare agreement on PAL’s flights from Manila to 27 destinations in the Philippines will enable our Nordic travelers to explore a host of new exotic destinations and for our business travelers to get to their final destination more easily. At the same time, the agreement will also bring Filipinos living in Denmark, Sweden and Norway closer to family and friends back home in the Philippines,” said Muhammad Raimi, General Manager of Singapore Airlines in the Nordics.
The two airlines will also explore the possibility of expanding the codeshare agreement to also include SIA's flights to a number of European destinations as well as Australia, India, New Zealand and South Africa.
