A Russian accident investigation has concluded that pilot error caused the fatal plane crash outside Moscow on February 11.

The plane, an Antonov AN148 belonging to the domestic airline Saratov, crashed just minutes after taking off from Domodedovo airport. Everyone on board – 65 passengers and six crew members – died.

The investigation confirms the initial picture that the plane crashed due to frozen instruments.
”"Data from the black boxes shows that the pilots did not turn on the thermal sensors during the climb, which led to icing," investigators said in a statement.

The ice caused the pilot to receive incorrect information about the aircraft's speed, which led to him increasing the speed and the plane diving.
”The plane then became uncontrollable.”
