The police were alerted after Finnair staff suspected the man was drunk. The plane was on the ground for check-in before departure. As a precaution, the entire crew had to take a breathalyzer test, reports Finnish channel MTV, which was the first to report the news.

”"We have zero tolerance for intoxicants and all our processes and practices are based on ensuring that every flight is safe. Although the case is sad, it shows that the processes are working," Finnair's Chief Operating Officer Jaakko Schildt wrote in a press release.

If an employee who has a safety-critical job is drunk, it will lead to termination, the company announces.
