The Swedish Pilots' Association is demanding almost 18 million in damages from SAS for breach of the collective agreement. The background is that the airline allegedly exceeded a quota for leasing external aircraft during 2018-2019, reports the news agency Siren.

Rental is used for to quickly bring in external companies and aircraft in the event of traffic disruptions and an agreement on this has been in place since 2012. According to the pilots' union representative, this worked well until 2018. 

According to the representative, SAS has made savings of 16.8 million through the hiring measures. However, the claim for damages is set somewhat higher, as the association also wants compensation for infringement in connection with the breach of contract.
