
All passengers survived when a plane crashed in the Mexican state of Durango.
The plane reportedly belonged to the Mexican airline Aeroméxico and was en route to Mexico City.
It was at 4:00 PM on Tuesday afternoon that the plane crashed, just five minutes after taking off from Guadalupe Victoria International Airport, local newspaper El Sol del Durango reports.
A reporter from the local newspaper Milenio claims to have seen passengers walking on foot from the crashed plane to seek help on the highway.
The plane, an Embraer 190 with 97 passengers and 4 crew members on board, was en route from Durango to Mexico City. According to eyewitness accounts, the plane caught fire after takeoff, shortly after a heavy hailstorm.
85 people are reported to have been injured, the majority with minor injuries, according to a spokesperson for the Durango state civil defense.
It is currently unclear why the plane crashed.
