Starting Wednesday, large parts of Portugal will be locked down again. People are being urged to stay home except to go to work, school or shopping.

The lockdown covers 121 municipalities, including the metropolitan areas of Lisbon and Porto, and affects around 70 percent of the population of 10 million.

”If nothing is done, the increase in infections will inevitably lead to the failure of our healthcare system,” says Prime Minister Antonio Costa.
