Prices drop after school starts

As schools open and everyday life returns, travel prices plummet, making late summer one of the best times of the year to travel. Here, travel agency Ticket reveals which destinations are the most affordable to book right now.

Now that the high season is over, the pressure on both flights and hotels is decreasing. In order to fill plane seats and hotel rooms, many companies are therefore significantly reducing their prices. This gives those who are flexible the chance to book cheap trips, sometimes for half the price compared to what the equivalent trip would have cost during the summer holidays.

– Right now we are seeing a clear price drop to several popular travel destinations. Now that schools are reopening, it is a perfect opportunity for those who have the opportunity to travel outside of school holidays to treat themselves to a trip and get extra vacation for their money, says Tiyoneh Jah, PR and communications manager at travel agency Ticket.

In the coming months, it is the cheapest to travel to Greece and Turkey – especially to Rhodes, Side and Alanya. There you can get a week's charter holiday, with both flights and hotels, for around 3,000 SEK. But prices to other sunny destinations around the Mediterranean and to exciting European cities are also dropping dramatically – perfect for those who want to take a spontaneous late summer trip or book an autumn trip to look forward to.

Most people travel here during late summer:

  1. Malaga, Spain (1)
  2. Mallorca, Spain (2)
  3. Alicante, Spain (4)
  4. Barcelona, Spain (9)
  5. Crete, Greece (6)
  6. Rhodes, Greece (5)
  7. London, United Kingdom (7)
  8. Rome, Italy (8)
  9. Larnaca, Cyprus (3)
  10. Split, Croatia (10)
