After school starts, prices for many international trips drop sharply. According to travel agency Ticket, trips to popular destinations can be up to 45 percent cheaper than during the high season, while summer weather persists in many places around the Mediterranean.
When the summer holidays are over, demand for holiday travel decreases as families with children return to school and everyday life. For travelers who are not tied to the school holidays, this means a significantly more affordable booking opportunity.
According to Ticket, there are currently charter trips to Cyprus, Greece and Turkey for under 4,000 SEK per person. The price includes flights and hotels for a week.
– After the start of school, we see a clear change in travel prices. Those who have the opportunity to travel outside of school holidays have a wide range of affordable trips to choose from, while summer continues in many of the most popular destinations around the Mediterranean, says Tiyoneh Jah, PR and communications manager at Ticket.
Promotional prices also on scheduled flights
It's not just charter flights that become attractive in terms of price after the peak season. Ticket notes that many airlines also launch promotions on airline tickets during the period.
For travelers who prefer to put together the trip themselves, it may therefore be worthwhile to compare the cost of charter with regular flights and separate hotel bookings.
– Many people would like to extend their summer and are not tied to a certain type of trip. Therefore, it may be worth comparing both charter and scheduled flights and seeing what suits them best, says Tiyoneh Jah.
Avoid week 44 for lower prices
For those looking to find the lowest prices, there is another period to keep an eye on. Ticket recommends travelers without school-age children avoid the autumn holidays during week 44.
Then demand for foreign trips from families with children increases again, which also tends to drive up prices.
