Tens of thousands of travel company Tui's customers have had their trips cancelled or rescheduled due to the pandemic.
Upset travelers are also having difficulty reaching the company's customer service, writes Aftonbladet.
”"We are making a lot of changes to our flight program. The pandemic has thrown it all into disarray, which means we need to change where you can fly and when you can fly in the coming time," press officer Adam Györki tells the newspaper.
This is especially true for trips to Thailand and Mexico. There may be minor changes, such as delayed departures, or completely canceled trips.
”"We work as hard as we can to provide good service, this hurts, of course," says Adam Györki to Aftonbladet.
Tui urges customers not to call but instead send direct messages via Facebook.
”"Due to high interest in travel combined with many changes to our flight schedule, we are currently experiencing very high pressure in our customer service," the company writes.
Competitors Ving and Apollo also offer trips to Thailand during the winter. They say they don't have the same concerns.
”"Throughout the pandemic, we have had to change flight series and occasionally cancel flights to certain countries. Of course, that has been the case. It has also been the case to some extent during the autumn. But we have not experienced the same problems as Tui. We have informed our travelers as early as possible when there have been changes," says Anna Hagberg, information officer at Ving, to TT.
Apollo focuses a lot on relatively straightforward destinations like the Canary Islands and Dubai.
”"I think we are lucky to have a smaller number of travelers to destinations with more uncertain entry rules. We have carefully considered which destinations we have opened up for booking. Some have slightly more uncertain entry rules, such as Thailand," says press manager Sandra Miller Kinge to TT.
”Just like our competitors, we are working hard to consider, weigh up and help customers understand what entry rules apply right now.”
