Proposal: Vaccination certificate from June 1

Several countries, not least tourist countries in the EU, have raised the issue of so-called vaccine certificates or vaccine passports in order to get travel back on its feet.

This is how the work to develop a digital vaccination certificate is going. Mats Snäll, project manager at the Swedish Agency for Digital Governance (DIGG), talks about the work towards a vaccination certificate.

Work on a digital infrastructure for vaccine certificates in Sweden is ongoing.

”"The government's goal is that you should be able to receive a digital vaccination certificate," says Minister of Digitalization Anders Ygeman (S) at a press conference.

It should be ready by the summer, he says. A first report contains suggestions for how a so-called vaccination certificate could be designed.

”It is primarily intended for travelers and for inspectors to be able to look at the proof and verify that it is authentic,” says Mats Snäll, project manager at the Swedish Digital Administration Agency.

The proof will be available from June 1, according to a proposal from the authority. The term proof is used to avoid confusing it with the certificates issued by health care for various medical conditions.
