Rats, poop and dirt. That's what food inspectors found when they visited a company that delivered airplane food to and from Sweden.
After an anonymous tip, Nyköping Municipality conducted an inspection at the company that delivered food for flights from Skavsta, among other things, writes Södermanlands Nyheter.

At the location where the company operated, food inspectors found dirt, dead rats, and rat droppings on the floor, along with chocolate wrappers that rats had eaten through.

Amal Shabibi, head of the food unit in Nyköping Municipality, describes the sight as "terrible".

Companies that supply food to the public must register their operations with the municipality, which is responsible for inspections. The company in question had supplied food to Ryanair, Jettime and Novair for three years without reporting it to the municipality.

– Here you see the risk when an operation is not known to us. The conditions can become this terrible. In an operation that receives inspection visits, it never happens like this, Amal Shabibi tells the newspaper.

After the visit, the company was banned from continuing operations, which was lifted after a promise of improvement and more inspections. After being imposed the maximum possible penalty of SEK 75,000, the company deregistered its operations in Nyköping.
