Done: Five hundred ringgit to travel around the country

Remove

A five-hundred-dollar bill, char or five hundred-dollar bill if you like.

That's how much it should cost to travel by local and regional public transport for a month in Germany – or yes, 49 euros, equivalent to 533 kronor, if you're being picky.

The state and the federal states have agreed on a financing model for the reform, writes The Time

The predecessor, a ticket for nine euros, was introduced as support for households during the pandemic. A measure that has now expired.

”"A real success" according to Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

He is not alone in his opinion – but the measure has also been controversial, not least because the great interest in travel highlighted shortcomings in the German railway system.

The new ticket for 49 euros is expected to be available in early 2023.
