Traffic in Swedish airspace increased by five percent last year to 762,000 airspace movements.
This is the highest figure ever measured, the Civil Aviation Administration notes.
The most traffic-intensive month was September when movements were over 70,000. February was the month with the lowest number of movements, just under 53,000.
”"Our country's economy is strong and this is reflected in flying, especially to and from Sweden. In addition, Sweden is becoming more and more attractive as a tourist country," says Ann Persson Grivas, Director General of the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency.
The Swedish traffic increase of five percent puts Sweden slightly above the European average of four percent. The forecast for 2018 is a more moderate increase.
