2025 will go down in history as one of the best years ever for Swedish campsites. Recent statistics from the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Development show that the number of guest nights at Swedish campsites increased by 5.51% between January and September to a total of 16.9 million guest nights.
The growth is noticeable among both Swedish and foreign visitors. Swedish guest nights increased by 4.7%, and foreign guest nights by 8%.
– We see a long-term trend where interest continues to grow, both among Swedish and international guests. Sweden's perhaps best holiday locations and a good mix of camping and cottage accommodation are attracting more and more guests, says Martin Juhos, CEO of Svensk Camping
Behind the figures is, among other things, a record-breaking September, where the number of guest nights increased by 12% compared to the same month last year. This makes September 2025 the most successful ever.
-In September 2025, almost 35% of the guests were from Europe. A few years ago, that proportion was barely 25%. This means a longer season and shows Sweden's strength as a destination in Europe, says Martin Juhos.
The number of guest nights at Sweden's campsites is increasing in almost all destinations.
