The uncertain global situation is causing more and more Swedes to choose to vacation at home. Since the attacks in the Middle East began, summer bookings at First Camps, Sweden's largest camping chain, are up 22 percent compared to the same period last year.

”"Just like in previous events with uncertainty in the world, we are seeing that more and more Swedes are choosing not to fly abroad and instead choose to vacation at home. Our online booking has reached record levels recently and we are seeing great interest in both camping and cottage accommodation this summer," says Johan Söör, CEO of First Camp.

First Camp is Northern Europe's largest player in camping and resorts, with 91 destinations in six countries, of which 57 destinations are in Sweden. Johan Söör continues:

”Interest in camping has increased for many years, partly due to the ever-increasing prices for charter trips. Camping, whether in a motorhome, caravan, tent or cabin, offers unbeatable value for money. A survey from Zmarta 2025 showed that a family gets five weeks of camping for the price of one week of charter during the summer holidays.”

The 22 percent increase applies to summer bookings on First Camp's website March 1-11, 2026 compared to the same time period in 2025.
