Emirates, the world's largest long-haul airline and owned by the emirate of Dubai, has reported a record profit of 10.1 billion dirhams (approximately SEK 30 billion) for the first six months of the company's broken financial year (April-September).
This represented a 140 percent increase compared to the same period the previous year when the profit amounted to 4.2 billion dirhams, writes Bloomberg News. The result was driven by a strong recovery in international air travel during the past summer.
Emirates' revenue for the six-month period increased by around a fifth and amounted to 67.3 billion dirhams (approximately SEK 199 billion).
”For the second half of 2023/2024, we expect customer demand across all our divisions to remain healthy. /…/ At the same time, we are keeping an eye on headwinds such as rising fuel prices, the stronger US dollar, inflationary costs and geopolitics,” Emirates Chairman Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum said in a statement.
