Hertz broke a record in the number of rental days, which exceeded 3.1 million in 2019. An increase of approximately 3 % compared to the previous year.
The growth is due, among other things, to the strong summer with high demand but also to a better revenue model. During the year, demand for long-term rentals also increased, mainly among private customers, who increasingly rent cars for longer periods and not just during the summer and winter holidays. As in previous years, the proportion of foreign rental car customers, mainly from Norway, Denmark and the USA, is also growing.
”"Today, many people are actively choosing not to own their own car - for both economic and environmental reasons, and instead rent a car when the need arises. We see an increasing trend there and as a company we play a role that is appreciated by our customers," says Mattias Wäne, CEO of Hertz Sweden.
The impact of the flight scandal that has affected Swedish domestic traffic has also affected the rental car industry overall, where travel has decreased throughout the year from both business and leisure travelers. In 2019, there was a large increase in demand for electric and hybrid cars, and Hertz also introduced carbon offsets for all its Gold Plus rewards customers as an initiative within the framework of the company's environmental and sustainability work.
