A red weather warning for extreme downpours is now in effect for the Spanish provinces of Tarragona, Castellon and Valencia from Sunday afternoon until Monday morning, reports TV4.
Up to 180 millimetres of rain is expected over a short period, and authorities are urging the public to exercise extreme caution. Schools, universities, and public places will be kept closed.
The region was badly affected by similar floods last November, when over 200 people died and thousands were forced to evacuate.
