Stromma's Göta Kanal cruises with Rederi AB Göta Kanal are cancelled for the 2021 season – the pandemic has thus put a stop to these cruises this year as well. The shipping company's three historic canal boats will therefore not be in service this year.

The history of Rederi AB Göta Kanal began in 1869 when the shipping company Ångfartygsaktiebolaget Motala Ström was founded. Since then, the shipping company's canal boats have cruised the Göta Kanal annually, with the exception of a few years of interruption during the First World War, one year during the Second World War and last year.

"We hoped until the last moment that we would be able to run our Göta Canal cruises this year," says Peter Henricson, head of Stromma Sweden, but the pandemic has once again put a stop to us. Bookings from Swedes are too few and the foreign tourists who have booked are not enough for us to be able to cruise this summer.".

-Gladly, many of those who booked this year have moved their booking to next year, and new bookings for 2022 have already come in. To meet the high demand, we will therefore be introducing more trips for the 2022 season compared to previous cruise seasons, concludes Peter Henricson.
