17 out of 21 regions in the country are now reintroducing requirements for face masks in their operations, Ekot reports.
One of the regions is Västernorrland, which introduced the recommendations last week.
– This is to reduce the risk of transmission of infection to patients and care recipients, but also between staff, says Hans Bohman, infectious disease physician in Region Västernorrland.
The spread of infection in Sweden has increased by around 30 percent in the last four weeks.
Currently, two subvariants of omicron dominate, BA.4 and BA.5.
