Large parts of Sweden's traffic are threatened - a train strike could come into effect on May 11th. 

This was announced by the Seko union, which gave notice of strike action on Tuesday. 

The train strike may affect trains such as SJ trains, Öresund trains, Mälartåg, Götalandståg, Pågatåg, Stockholm metro and freight trains.

Almega Tågföretagen announced on Wednesday that the Mediation Institute has now appointed three people to mediate in the dispute between Seko, the Service and Communications Union and Tågföretagen. 

Together they will negotiate a new collective agreement in the rail transport area.

– The talks will be taken up when the time comes. The earliest the conflict can break out is May 11. But hopefully the mediators will succeed in getting employers and unions to agree on a solution, says Erik Juhlin, press communicator at Almega Tågföretagen.

Neither SJ, MTR nor Öresundstrafiken want to comment on whether a train strike could affect traffic.
