Smoke alarm after phone failure on Norwegianflyg

Remove

A man in his 30s on a Norwegian flight had problems with his phone this evening. The handset started smoking and sparks were reportedly flying from it.

– The passengers around him got a little stressed because it got smoky in the cabin, says Terje Skaftnes of the Norwegian police to VG.

A resourceful flight attendant intervened, says Skaftnes.

She allegedly took the phone, put it in a fireproof bag and poured water on it.

The flight came from Amsterdam and landed at Gardermoen in Oslo. The aircraft was able to land as usual.

– The man was slightly burned on his hands, but he was checked by medical personnel at Gardermoen, says Terje Skaftnes to VG.
