Rolfs Flyg & Buss, has launched a new feature on its website that makes it possible for single travelers to easily find a roommate directly in the booking flow. This feature is designed to reduce the additional costs that the single room supplement entails and make it easier for solo travelers to experience the benefits of traveling in a group without having to pay a higher price.
A survey conducted by Rolfs Flyg & Buss in the spring of 2024 with 9,300 participants shows that as many as seven out of ten travelers have made new friends during a trip, and 13 percent say they know someone who has even found their life partner during a trip. The same survey also showed that one in four travelers has at some point refrained from traveling due to the lack of a travel companion. For many potential travelers, the additional cost of a single room is a barrier.
”"Group travel is an excellent way to travel for single travelers. They get security and company with tour leaders, shared activities and meals. Through the new roommate feature, we hope to make group travel even more accessible to solo travelers and thereby increase single travel in Sweden," says Emanuel Karlsson, CEO of Rolfs Flyg & Bus.
The new feature means that single travelers can register their interest in sharing a room on a specific trip and departure. If a potential roommate is available, both parties will receive an email and the opportunity to contact each other directly. Only when both parties agree to share a room will they proceed with the booking – ensuring that no one has to share a room with someone they did not choose.
Rolfs Flyg & Buss has previously focused on including single travelers through its Facebook community, which now has over 17,000 members, and launched friend trips to Portugal, which have been positively received.
With this new feature, Rolfs Flyg & Buss takes another step towards making group travel more accessible to solo travelers and helping more Swedes experience the joy of traveling in a group.
