Kiruna Airport is closed after a fault was discovered on the runway. The airport will be closed for the rest of Sunday, reports NSD.

An airplane en route from Stockholm on Sunday morning had to land in Luleå instead.

”"Maintenance work was carried out during the night. When it was inspected on Sunday morning, it was discovered that it was not in good enough condition for the plane to land," says Fredrik Elg at Swedavia's press service to Aftonbladet.

The airport being closed during the day affects two departures and two arrivals to and from Stockholm.
