Low-cost airline Ryanair is adjusting its forecast for the 2021 fiscal year, which ended March 31, 2021.

The company now expects a net profit before one-off items of -800 to -850 million pounds. The previous estimate was -850 to -950 million pounds.

The airline carried 27.5 million passengers during the year, down from 149 million last year, due to the lockdowns and restrictions imposed during the pandemic.

They further state that restrictions around Easter and delayed traffic recovery will likely lead to traffic in the coming years ending up in the lower end of the guided range of 80-120 million passengers.

Ryanair is not providing profit guidance but says it does not share the optimism seen among some analysts, as Ryanair believes that the outcome for the 2022 financial year is currently close to breakeven.
