Ryanair is introducing new time limits for check-in and baggage drop at its airports. From November 10, 2026, check-in and bag drop will close 60 minutes before departure, compared to the current 40 minutes.
The aim is to give travellers more time to get through security checks and passport queues at airports, especially during periods of high demand.
The change primarily affects the approximately 20 per cent of passengers who check in luggage. The remaining 80 per cent, who already check in online and travel without checked luggage, are not affected.
At the same time, Ryanair is aiming to install more self-service bag drop kiosks. The goal is for over 95 percent of the airports in the company's network to have such solutions in place by October.
"This change gives our customers more time to get to the gate on time, especially when queues are longer than usual," said Ryanair Marketing Manager Dara Brady.
The new kiosks are integrated with Ryanair's app and allow travellers to check in their own luggage and print baggage tags, which is intended to reduce queues and speed up the process at the airport.
