Ryanair announced this week that they will broaden their offering from Sweden by launching two new direct routes from Landvetter in Gothenburg.
The new destinations are Malta and Porto in Portugal. Flights to Porto will start on October 26 and will operate twice a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays. Two days later, on October 28, flights to Malta will start, also operating twice a week. Speaking of Ryanair, they are now going to increase the limit on the size of hand luggage you can bring without extra charge.
This is likely a reaction to the EU's new minimum dimensions (40 x 30 x 15 cm) for hand luggage. The new dimensions for free hand luggage are 40 x 30 x 20 cm, which is a 20 percent increase in volume compared to before. However, the bag can still weigh a maximum of 10 kg and must still fit under the seat in front.
Low-cost carrier Wizz Air has also increased its minimum dimensions to the same volume as Ryanair. Easyjet has a slightly larger volume as they allow bags measuring 45 x 36 x 20 cm at no extra cost.
