An Irish court has rejected Ryanair's attempt to prevent its chief operating officer Peter Bellew from joining the competitor. Ryanair will immediately appeal the decision, reports Bloomberg. 

On January 1, Peter Bellew will become chief operating officer of the airline Easy Jet. This despite his current employer Ryanair trying to stop his employment citing a clause in his employment contract, reports Bloomberg. 

Peter Bellew's move to Easyjet was announced in July this year. However, Ryanair said he would have to wait 12 months from the date he left the airline before he could start his new job at Easyjet. However, the Irish courts considered this clause to be too far-reaching. 

Ryanair tells Bloomberg that it will immediately appeal to stop the transition.
