No journalists are welcome when low-cost airline Ryanair holds its annual meeting next week.
This is reported by several media outlets, including CNN Money.
Ryanair, which has had a tough year with a falling stock price and several staff strikes, usually invites the media to its annual meeting. But not this year.
The company says it ”wants shareholders to be able to discuss all matters freely with the company’s board without these discussions being distorted for PR purposes.”.
CNN points out that there are no rules that say you have to invite media representatives to your annual meeting, but at the same time notes that it is common practice among larger listed companies.
In the spring of 2017, Svenska Dagbladet Näringsliv drew attention to the fact that journalists were not welcome at Hexagon's annual general meeting. The company changed its mind after a few days and announced that the board would propose to the meeting to approve media presence.
