Ryanair is close to placing a large order with aircraft manufacturer Boeing, Bloomberg reports, citing sources. The low-cost airline is said to want to buy 150 737 Max aircraft.

The deal, which could be announced as early as Tuesday, involves the 737 Max 10, which with its 230 passengers is the largest aircraft type in Boeing's best-selling model. In an initial phase, it involves 150 aircraft, but Ryanair will have an option to buy an additional 50, Bloomberg's sources said.

Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary said earlier this spring that the company is in talks with Boeing about ordering up to 200 aircraft with planned deliveries between 2027 and 2031.

Ryanair has made a strong recovery from the coronavirus pandemic and is forecasting good demand for summer travel. Its shares have risen almost 30 percent on the London Stock Exchange so far this year and are now trading at their highest level in 14 months.
