Irish low-cost airline Ryanair will start charging for even smaller hand luggage, writes The Guardian.

The company states that the current arrangement still leads to delays for many flights.

The latest decisions regarding hand luggage were made in January, allowing customers to check them in with other luggage. However, customers have proven to be innovative and are still taking too much hand luggage on board, even though the overhead locker space cannot handle it.

As a result, Ryanair is choosing to introduce a hand luggage fee starting in November. The price for a hand luggage weighing less than ten kilos will cost 8 pounds. It is not clear what the price will be for hand luggage weighing more than ten kilos.

It will still be free to carry a smaller bag that will be placed under the seats or a handbag that certain selected travelers can take on board as hand luggage.

Ryanair states that the change will be revenue neutral for them.
