Irish low-cost airline Ryanair made a loss of 355 million euros in the latest financial year that ended on March 31, 2022. This was better than the expected -370 million euros, according to a forecast compilation from the company and significantly better than the billion-euro loss the year before.

Ryanair, like the entire aviation industry, has been plagued by the corona pandemic that went global in the spring of 2020.

The company now sees a turn for the better and expects "reasonable profitability" during the current financial year, although it remains difficult to provide forecasts given the coronavirus and the Ukraine war, according to CEO Michael O'Leary.

Ryanair aims to fly 165 million passengers this year, up from 97 million last year and the record of 149 million before the pandemic.
