On Monday, mediation negotiations between the pilots and the airline SAS began, according to the Swedish Mediation Institute.
SAS declines to comment.
– We will meet with the mediators at midday to review the situation. Then the mediation negotiations are expected to begin, said the Swedish Mediation Institute's Chief Legal Officer Per Ewaldsson on Monday morning.
First up was the employer side, i.e. SAS, and the meeting took place at the airline.
– Then we will take the pilots shortly afterwards, whether it will be today or tomorrow I am a little unsure, says Ewaldsson.
SAS's communications director Karin Nyman does not want to comment on what was said or how the talks are progressing.
TT has unsuccessfully contacted the SAS section of the Swedish Pilots Association and the Swedish Mediation Institute for comment.
It was last week that the pilot union announced a strike starting on June 29, a major setback for the airline SAS, which recently presented interim figures that showed continued heavy financial losses for the company.
It has been estimated that a strike could affect around 250 departures and 45,000 travelers daily.
The Swedish Mediation Institute appointed three mediators in the conflict on Friday: Jan Sjölin, former contract secretary at Kommunal, Claes Stråth, former director general of the Swedish Mediation Institute, and Cecilia Fahlberg Pihlgren, former chairwoman of Unionen.
As the conflict also affects parties with collective agreements in Norway and Denmark, there are also local mediators for each country.
– We will of course ensure that the other countries are informed about what is happening here in Sweden, says Per Ewaldsson.
