SAS owner flies above expectations

Air France-KLM reports a higher-than-expected profit in the second quarter, but the airline group lowers its forecast for the full year due to subdued demand.

The airline group's adjusted operating profit of 484 million euros was lower than last year's profit of 736 million euros, but higher than analysts' average forecast of 327 million euros.

Air France-KLM expects a 1 percent decline in short- and medium-haul flights and an increase of 2-3 percent for the group as a whole. This is the second downward adjustment compared to the forecast before the Iran war.

”We delivered strong commercial performance driven by continued robust demand for premium travel, particularly in the Asian and North American markets,” said CEO Benjamin Smith in a statement.

Turnover rose 9.9 percent to 9,277 million euros. This was slightly higher than the expected 9,189.
