SAS and Airbus are joining forces to jointly develop an electric aircraft. ”If this becomes a reality, it will revolutionize aviation emissions,” says SAS CEO Rickard Gustafson.
The collaboration is a joint research project where SAS and Airbus will build knowledge around "operational and infrastructural" opportunities and challenges linked to the large-scale introduction of hybrid and electric aircraft in commercial traffic, according to a press release.
”"This is the first time that an airline has launched a project together with an aircraft manufacturer to introduce electric aviation for large-scale, commercial use," the press release states.
