Christmas traffic in the airline SAS's Norwegian operations looks like it will be able to proceed without the threat of a strike.

The airline has reached an agreement with the two Norwegian cabin crew unions and has signed a collective agreement that runs until March 2024.

The agreement includes a salary increase of 3.7 percent.

”"It has not been an option for us to reduce wages. We have put an agreement in place and secured our members a moderate wage increase that is in line with the rest of society," says Bjarte Stedje, who leads one of the unions, the Norwegian Cabin Crew Association.

SAS's head of negotiations, Svein Henriksen, believes that the agreement is important and emphasizes that SAS is facing a historically demanding situation after two years of pandemic, and that all parties must contribute if the company's reconstruction is to succeed.

”"We will now continue work on the reconstruction plan for SAS and ensure that we deliver it in its entirety. And not least to take care of our passengers and the important Christmas traffic that is now approaching," he says.
