SAS customers will be able to pay an optional surcharge to use more biofuel during their flight. SAS has been given the opportunity to purchase more biofuel but states that the company cannot bear the cost itself today.
The biofuel will be sold according to a model where 20 minutes cost SEK 100. For example, for someone who wants to buy biofuel equivalent to one hour of flight, there will be an additional cost of SEK 300.
According to current regulations, it would be possible to fly with a mixture of 50 percent biofuel and 50 percent fossil fuel. But the road to that is still long. SAS only has a small proportion of such fuel in its production.
