SAS has signed a so-called wet lease agreement with Latvian airline Smart Lynx regarding capacity on eight Airbus A320-200 aircraft to cover the summer program. It reports Check-in.
The aircraft will be based in Stockholm and therefore include crews. According to Check-in, 240 pilots and crew members are covered by the agreement, which applies to the operating period April-October.
The agreement is confirmed by SAS's press department.
SAS recently signed a similar agreement with Danish Jettime, which will fly three Boeing 737-800s for SAS during the summer.
According to Check-in, Smart Lynx previously had a wet lease partnership with Norwegian in 2017-2018, when Norwegian received customer complaints due to poor quality. This prompted then-CEO Bjørn Kjos to comment that wet lease ”costs a lot of money and is harmful to our brand.”.
