Around 2.9 million passengers chose to fly with SAS in September, which is 3 percent more than compared to September 2018. This is evident from SAS's monthly figures.
SAS's total capacity in turn rose 1.5 percent, while currency-adjusted unit revenue and passenger yield improved by 4.4 percent and 5.5 percent, respectively, according to a press release.
In the Scandinavian countries, demand for domestic travel measured in passenger kilometers increased, especially in Norway.
”"It is encouraging that the work to adapt our production to seasonal demand is reflected in more travelers. The growth of domestic traffic links us to our work to improve the customer offering and efforts to reduce climate impact. In addition to carbon offset of all SAS tickets booked by EuroBonus members, our travelers can now also make their flights more sustainable by choosing to pay for biofuel, which reduces climate-impacting carbon dioxide emissions by 80 percent compared to fossil fuel. Since the launch, we have seen increasing interest from customers in this option," says Rickard Gustafson, CEO of SAS in the press release.
