A number of European airlines – including SAS – are accused of greenwashing. The organization BEUC, which brings together a number of European consumer organizations, claims that the airlines are violating EU rules and wants to see a broad European investigation to ”stop information that gives consumers the impression that flying is environmentally sustainable.”.

BEUC writes that airlines are misleading consumers by making them pay extra on tickets for so-called sustainable aviation fuel that is not yet available on the market. In addition to SAS, 16 other companies, including Norwegian, Ryanair and Lufthansa, are included on the BEUC list.
