SAS intends to close its personnel bases in Stavanger and Trondheim from the new year, reports E24. The employees will be offered jobs in Oslo instead.
”"We are currently experiencing major challenges with Covid-19 and a strained economy and therefore feel compelled to implement the closure of the base so quickly," the company wrote to cabin crew on Monday, reports E24.
Martinus Røkkum of SAS Norway Cabin Crew Union tells E24 that the union is critical of the decision. Around 140 employees are affected.
”"The Stavanger base has existed since the 60s and Trondheim since the 80s. So we are talking about people who have worked for a long time in the company," he tells E24.
The union has opposed the closure decision on the basis that it does not see any economic benefits from it.
