The war in Iran has flared up again. Jet fuel prices are rising again – and SAS is now warning that it may be forced to cancel flights.

Since the end of February this year, oil prices have been a major concern for the aviation industry. With the war in Iran and unrest in the Strait of Hormuz, the price of oil has reached skyrocketing levels.
In mid-June, the US and Iran agreed to a ceasefire. However, it did not last long, as the US last week carried out large-scale attacks on Iran, which were responded to with attacks on US military targets.
Now oil prices are soaring again, reports Ekot. In the past week, the price of oil has risen to $127 per barrel, according to the aviation industry organization IATA.
SAS does not rule out canceled flights
The increasing price means that several airlines need to review their departures, including SAS. In recent months, between 3 and 5 percent of all departures have been forced to be canceled, according to Ekot. The airline's CEO Anko van der Werff tells the radio that there may be more canceled flights in the near future.
– We have no plans to cancel any more, but we have to see what happens in the Middle East and how it affects oil prices, says van der Werff.
He says he is closely monitoring developments.
– I am more worried that fuel prices will rise again if there is more unrest in the Middle East. Then I don't think it is good news for oil prices, says the CEO.
