SAS is canceling all flights to mainland China throughout February due to the coronavirus, according to a statement on the airline's website. This is an extension of an earlier announcement that all flights would be canceled through February 9.

A new assessment of the situation in China has been made and therefore no flights will be operated to or from SAS's two mainland Chinese destinations, Shanghai and Beijing, the airline writes.

In addition, SAS has closed the possibility of booking tickets to Mainland China until March 15, an extension from the previous deadline for booking tickets, which was February 29.

The line to Hong Kong is not affected by the announcement, writes SAS, which states that it is monitoring developments and is in constant dialogue with authorities on the virus issue.

According to official Chinese statistics, the number of people infected with the corona virus in China has now increased to 20,438, of which 13,522 are in Hubei, and the number of deaths has increased to 425. A death in Hong Kong marks the second death reported outside China.
