The airline SAS is reducing traffic due to the increasing number of infections, which has led to stricter restrictions and dampened the desire to travel, reports the Danish news site Finans.

In the coming weeks until the sports break, SAS will reduce capacity by up to 30 percent, but SAS expects to stick to plans for a substantial reopening during the spring and summer, writes Finans.

”"The Omicron variant has caused the number of infections to flare up. This has led to a general decline in demand and for some countries with strict restrictions we have also seen a significant decline in the desire to travel. Therefore, starting this week, we will significantly reduce the supply of seats," says Simon Pauck Hansen, SAS Vice President and Operations.

However, Simon Pauck Hansen does not expect the current decline in traffic to affect demand during the spring and summer.

”We plan to "We will increase traffic from April onwards at the same pace as before," says Simon Pauck Hansen.

SAS's goal is to reach 80 percent traffic during peak season compared to 2019.
