The airline SAS reports a pre-tax profit of 1.7 billion Swedish kronor in 2024, but the operating loss remains at over 2 billion kronor. This is reported by the Norwegian news site E24.
Revenue increased from 42 billion Swedish kronor to 45.9 billion Swedish kronor, while the operating loss went from 2.7 to 2.11 billion Swedish kronor.
However, the profit before tax was plus 1.74 billion, compared to a loss of 5.5 billion SEK in 2023.
This is mainly due to positive effects related to the write-down of loans after SAS exited bankruptcy protection in the US, so-called Chapter 11 proceedings. Positive currency effects related to leasing commitments also contributed.
”"Our financial performance improved and the number of passengers increased last year, but the restructuring processes in the US and Sweden had a significant impact on our costs. The operating result for the 2024 financial year is therefore not representative of our ongoing operations," SAS writes in a comment according to the financial website.
CEO Anko van der Werff's salary and benefits totaled SEK 12.8 million during the year. In addition, there was a pension supplement of SEK 4.7 million.
